On Tuesday, April 24, the National Council for Behavioral Health awarded WellPower with the 2018 Excellence in Behavioral Health Care Management Award. The award specifically recognizes Dahlia Campus for Health & Well-Being and its innovative, community-informed approach to behavioral health care.
As part of the recognition, WellPower received $10,000 to donate to a cause or organization of their choosing. The award was presented in Washington, D.C., during the Awards of Excellence celebration in conjunction with the National Council Conference, NatCon18. The conference gathered more than 5,000 behavioral health professionals.
“We’re honored to receive this award,” said Carl Clark, MD, president and chief executive officer of WellPower. “Dahlia Campus is expanding our horizons in behavioral health. It is pushing us to think differently about how to move interventions upstream, how to address the social determinants of health and how to create healthier, stronger, more community-informed systems of care.”
“It’s an honor,” said Dawn Davenport, PhD, vice president of Child & Family Services. “We believe that our communities are stronger when we work together, and we hope that Dahlia Campus will continue to shape the conversation around mental health and well-being. We’d love to see more models like it across Denver and around the country.”
Dahlia Campus for Health & Well-Being, which opened in 2016, is the primary location for WellPower’s Child & Family Services. The campus is the result of a strong partnership between the WellPower and Denver’s Northeast Park Hill community, understanding that those in the community are the ones who know best how to improve their health and well-being.
Proudly serving families, children and adults of all ages, Dahlia Campus takes a new approach to well-being by providing whole-person care for mind, body and community. The campus includes a one-acre urban farm, a 5,400 sq ft aquaponics greenhouse, community gardens, a teaching kitchen, pediatric dental clinic, community room, gymnasium, inclusive pre-school, and a full array of mental health services.
