Message to the Community from Dr. Clark

We close this week with anger, frustration and heavy hearts. The deep wounds that weigh on our community and our country are being felt once again with the killing of George Floyd and the protests and violence in Minneapolis and now in Denver. These events are part of a larger experience of trauma being felt across the country.

The sadness, concern and outrage you may be feeling is a normal response. This is compounded by the trauma of COVID-19 and the resulting loss of loved ones, jobs and even the “normal” of our previous lives. This has been felt especially deeply by members of communities that were already facing challenges of social inequality before coronavirus took center stage.

As we navigate the pain of these overlaid events, we at the WellPower want you to know that you matter – that what you are experiencing matters – and that we are here to support you.

We are committed to expanding equitable access to care, informed by the cultures that give our lives meaning. We want to hear from you. To share your experiences, concerns, and ideas and to access more resources, contact us:

If you or your loved ones need someone to talk to at any time, day or night (24/7), contact Colorado Crisis Services: 1-844-493-TALK (8255) or text TALK to 38255.  Our Walk-In Center is always open at 4353 E. Colfax Avenue, Denver, CO 80220.

Over the coming days and weeks, please do what you can to take care of yourself, your loved ones and your neighbors.

In health,

Carl Clark, MD, President and CEO
