Read Dr. Carl Clark’s heartfelt message to staff and check out a snapshot of highlights from WellPower during the past two years.

On a Sunday night two years ago, the Crisis Management Team and I discussed the decision to temporarily close WellPower to most in-person services due to the increasing spread of COVID-19 in Colorado. It was a time filled with anxiety and uncertainty, and there was no way we could have predicted how drastically and for how long our lives would be altered by the unfolding global pandemic.

As I reflect on these past two years, it is clear that we – together — have tackled the challenges presented by COVID-19 with compassion, adaptability, innovation and grit. It’s clear that many of the changes we thought would be temporary – like remote work and telehealth – may now be with us permanently in some form. Personally, I feel I’ve gained greater flexibility with living in an uncertain environment; truly, we still don’t know what life will look like next year or even next month as we continue to operate in this new reality.

Over the next few days, I hope you’ll join the executive management team in reflecting on the two-year anniversary of our response to the pandemic. Our hope is to recognize all our amazing accomplishments in the face of this adversity. Alongside this reflection, we want to create a space for us to mourn. Many of us have lost loved ones, experienced health issues from the virus and counseled those who have been directly or severely impacted by it. At a minimum, each of us has seen our way of life irrevocably changed.

There is more to come, but for now I just want to extend my gratitude to each of you for your hard work and dedication to well-being of the people we serve.
