Colorado residents who make a gift of $200 or more in support of our NextChapter (formerly 2Succeed) program may qualify to receive the Enterprise Zone (EZ) state tax credit equal to 25% of their contribution.

The Colorado Enterprise Zone (EZ) program is designed to promote and assist economically distressed areas by offering state income tax credits to non-profits and their donors. WellPower is located in one of these Enterprise Zones designated by the State of Colorado to encourage economic growth.

Colorado residents who make a gift of $200 or more in support of our NextChapter (formerly 2Succeed) program may qualify to receive the EZ state tax credit equal to 25% of the charitable contribution to use against your state income tax. The tax credit reduces the amount of state income tax you pay, in addition to federal and state charitable deductions you may receive for gifts to charity.

You can nearly double the size of your gift - and the impact of your generosity - without increasing the net cost to you.

After you make a qualifying gift, a member of the Philanthropy team will reach out to obtain additional information needed for us to submit your contribution to the tax credit program.

To make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA, you must be at least 70½ years of age at the time of the gift and your transfer must be made directly from your IRA to WellPower.

Benefits to the Donor
In addition to the benefits of giving to a charity like WellPower, when you make a QCD directly from your IRA, it will exclude the amount donated from taxable income which may help to keep you in a lower tax bracket. QCDs can also be counted towards satisfying your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year, as long as certain rules are met. Please consult your professional advisor for more information.

Let Us Know You Made a Gift
Your IRA administrator may not provide us with your name or contact information with your contribution. Please let us know if you are making a gift to WellPower from your IRA by emailing philanthropy@wellpower.org to ensure we are able to send you an acknowledgement of your donation which you will need to claim a deduction for your charitable contribution.

Colorado residents who make a gift of $200 or more in support of our Solutions to Homelessness initiatives may qualify to receive the Colorado Homeless Contribution Tax Credit (HCTC) equal to 25% of their contribution.

Created by Colorado House Bill 2022-1083 (HB22-1083), the Homeless Contribution Tax Credit (HCTC) provides a state income tax credit to Colorado taxpayers who contribute to eligible homelessness-related projects within Colorado. As a participating HCTC organization, WellPower donors who support our Solutions to Homelessness initiatives by giving monetary gifts of $200 or more, OR donate in-kind gifts valued at over $5,000 are eligible to receive a 25% state income tax credit. This includes cumulative gifts received throughout the tax year.

Cash Gifts: Donors who give a financial contribution of $200 or more by credit card or check can qualify to receive the HCTC, including cumulative gifts that total $200 or more by the end of the tax year. Donors can opt into this tax credit by putting “HCTC” in the memo line of a check, or writing “HCTC” in the notes section of their online credit card donation.

In-Kind Gifts: A donation that is not a monetary contribution and is valued over $5,000 pursuant to an independent third-party valuation in support of our Solutions to Homelessness initiatives may qualify for the HCTC. This includes contributions of property, services, stocks, bond, or other intangible property.

Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is a type of giving program that allows you to combine the most favorable tax benefits with the flexibility to easily support WellPower. With a DAF, you can contribute cash, securities and other assets, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants from the fund over time.

Advantages to you:
1. Immediate tax benefits - when you contribute to your DAF, you are eligible for a tax deduction in the same year your contribution is made.
2. Your investment grows tax-free - the assets in your DAF are invested for tax-free growth, potentially allowing you to give more.
3. Allows for a more strategic, planned approach to your philanthropy - it enables you to make a lasting commitment to WellPower, ensuring we can continue to make strides in our mission, while also providing you with the flexibility to recommend how much and how often money is granted to us.
