Intensive Outpatient Services (IOP)
Support for Mental Health and Addiction Struggles
Have you turned to using substances to cope with your mental health symptoms? Do you need additional support to achieve your substance use recovery goals? We are here to help.
WellPower's Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a 12-week treatment program for adults who are experiencing both mental health and substance use diagnoses (such as depression and addiction to alcohol). IOP supports people served at WellPower in learning new skills and strategies to support their long-term recovery.
Getting Started
If you are currently in services with WellPower, talk to your care team about a referral to IOP.
If you're new to WellPower and looking to access mental health services with us for the first time, you can either call our Access Center at (303) 504-7900 or request an appointment online.
Who Can This Program Help?
IOP is ideal for people who are struggling with mental health challenges and are using substances, such as drugs or alcohol, to cope, but want to find other, healthier ways to manage their symptoms.
This program might be right for you if:
- You’re working on staying sober or using less
- You’re having a tough time with mental health and substance use
- You just left a hospital or treatment program and need more support
- You’re 18 or older
- You have insurance through Medicaid (Health First Colorado) or Behavioral Health Community Services - 1X
How does Intensive Outpatient Treatment Work?
People who are in IOP get help through both group and one-on-one therapy, support from certified peer support specialists, help with managing medications and case management.
What to expect:
- A 12-week schedule, with group therapy sessions held three times a week for consistent support
- Individual weekly one-on-one therapy
- Substance use monitoring to support recovery
- IOP won't impact your ongoing services with WellPower psychiatrists and case managers
Groups topics include early recovery skills, using therapy skills and the Twelve Steps together, building communication and resiliency, living a balanced life, staying safe after trauma and preventing relapses.
The combination of one-on-one therapy, groups, substance use monitoring and wraparound care can help you stay sober or use less, while also giving you the tools to manage your mental health and prevent relapses.
Outpatient versus Inpatient: How do I Know What's Right for Me?
WellPower's Intensive Outpatient Program gives more support than regular therapy, but it doesn't require that you stay overnight. This program is best for people who are dealing with both mental health and substance use challenges, and aren't in danger of going into withdrawal.
Inpatient programs offer round-the-clock support that do require overnight stays, often for several weeks or months. WellPower doesn't offer inpatient programs - if you feel you need more support than outpatient treatment can provide, we invite you to call our Access Center at (303) 504-7900 to speak to our team about recommendations and referrals.
