Our Approach to Therapy

At Wellshire Behavioral Services and WellPower, we believe everyone deserves to have the support they need to live their best life – to recover from what’s happened to them, to learn about themselves and the world around them, to experience better well-being.

We value people and believe that everyone has the capacity to learn, grow and change. We know that everyone brings with them a unique set of strengths, needs, experiences and goals. At Wellshire, we see people for their inherent value and intentionally create a space where no one is defined by their diagnosis.

In everything we do, we build on a fundamentally hope-based approach. We know that people can and do recover every day from the symptoms and situations that can weigh on their well-being. Evidence-based therapy in partnership with a professional can be a highly effective way to manage mental health and live the kind of life you want to live. Engaging in treatment at Wellshire dramatically increases a person’s ability to draw upon their strengths and create and sustain a life of well-being.

We Serve People with a Range of Needs

Wellshire has a team of therapists and psychiatrists with a range of specializations to meet you where you are. We help people every day overcome challenges and improve their mental health, often by addressing symptoms of:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Grief
  • Addiction
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Poor sleep
  • Stress
  • Social anxiety
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Relationship issues
  • And lots more

What is EMDR?

You may have heard about eye movement desensitization and preprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is a therapeutic technique designed to help individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences and distressing memories. Through guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, EMDR facilitates the brain's natural healing process, allowing people to reframe negative thoughts and reduce emotional pain. It has proven effective for conditions like PTSD, anxiety and depression, offering relief when traditional talk therapies might fall short. By targeting the root cause of distress, EMDR empowers individuals to move forward with clarity and resilience, creating space for new growth and emotional well-being.

At first, EMDR sounds a little too strange to be considered actual therapy, but multiple studies have demonstrated its effectiveness when provided by a trained practitioner – like those at Wellshire.

What Makes Therapy at Wellshire Unique

We know there are lots of options for therapy in Denver with a wide range of therapists, psychiatrists and other professionals. There are so many options it can feel overwhelming to know where to start. As you look for a place that feels right to you, here are a few things about Wellshire that really make us stand out:

Access to collaborative care.

We have expert therapists and empathetic psychiatrists right here, in-house. All our providers work in an interdisciplinary team environment, meaning you will have access to the depth and breadth of our combined mental health expertise. If you and your therapist think medication could be helpful for your treatment plan, looping in a psychiatrist is simple and seamless – no need to bounce between different clinics for your care. And, we have a pharmacy right in the clinic, so you can fill your prescription on your way out.

Top-notch training and certifications.

All of our therapists and psychiatrists who work with commercial insurance are licensed, and many have even more advanced training in cutting-edge treatments: EMDR trained and certified, DBT foundationally trained, even licensed addiction counselors. This means that we can help people with a wide range of needs, even those that might not be apparent right away. We combine advanced clinical training with relatable life experience to be your partner in mental health.

We’re always getting better.

As part of our commitment to growth, we’re always looking for opportunities to offer an even better experience. Whether it’s greater availability of appointments, more time with therapists, or clearer communication, we continue to improve the quality of care we offer. Your mental health is important, and it’s a responsibility we take very seriously.

Treatment Experience

Just like in other parts of WellPower, treatment plans at Wellshire are built collaboratively in partnership with the person served and their therapist or treatment team. Wellshire uses treatment models that are well researched and proven to be effective for many people – these models of treatment are called Evidenced Based Practices. Several of the methods used at Wellshire include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
  • Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)
  • Motivational Interviewing

Regardless of which types of therapy are included in your individual plan, you can expect to be treated with respect and autonomy here at Wellshire. We see the agency of each person as critical in helping people improve their well-being. Wellshire mental health professionals are here to work with you along your journey.
