About Our Telehealth Services

Telehealth is a safe, secure way to receive mental and behavioral health services with WellPower. Through video appointments, we bring care to you so you can connect with your clinician from home or another private place that feels comfortable. For many people, online therapy can make it easier to start or continue care by reducing barriers like transportation, weather, scheduling challenges or distance.

WellPower offers telehealth as one option for compassionate, person-centered care. Whether your appointment is for therapy, counseling, medication support or another service, our teams are here to help you access care in the way that works best for your needs.

Changes to Telehealth at WellPower

WellPower has begun moving to a new tool for telehealth appointments, called Netsmart. This will replace Microsoft Teams for individual appointments (some groups will still take place in Teams).

Here’s what to know

If you have telehealth sessions with WellPower:

  • WellPower has begun moving new telehealth appointments to Netsmart instead of Microsoft Teams
  • This change is happening gradually with small groups of people at a time. You might continue having appointments in Teams for a while into 2026.
  • If you already have an appointment scheduled in 2026, the Microsoft Teams portion might be cancelled, but your appointment will still happen as scheduled
  • If the Microsoft Teams portion is canceled for your appointment, you will receive a text or email with a link to join your telehealth session using Netsmart 15 minutes before your appointment.
  • Note: if you use a Microsoft calendar, your telehealth appointments won’t appear on your calendar automatically starting in 2026. You will need to add appointments yourself after they’re scheduled.

Here’s how telehealth with Netsmart works

Four easy steps for your whole appointment:

  1. A few minutes before your appointment, you will receive a message with a link to join your session.
  2. Your video call will start with a WellPower staff person from our front desk. They will help you complete any paperwork, check insurance coverage and make any payments for your appointment.
  3. You’ll have your regular session with your clinician.
  4. After your session, you will talk again with the front desk person to schedule your next appointment.

Why the change?

Netsmart will make telehealth at WellPower easier:

  • Regular Reminders. When you have a telehealth appointment coming up, you will receive regular reminders to your phone or email.
  • Link to Join. You will receive a link to join your appointment a few minutes before it begins so you don’t have to worry about finding the link on your calendar.
  • Better Support. You’ll talk to a staff person from the front desk at the beginning and end of your call to handle paperwork and schedule your next appointment.

What is Telehealth?

Telehealth is a way to receive health care through secure video appointments using a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer. For mental health care, telehealth can include online therapy, counseling, psychiatry, care coordination, groups and other services when they are available and appropriate for your care plan.

Online therapy can offer the same connection, dignity and support as an in-person appointment while giving you more flexibility. Your care team will help determine whether telehealth is a good fit for your needs.

The Benefits of Telehealth and Online Therapy

  • Care from a private place: Attend your appointment from home or another safe, private location.
  • Less time spent traveling: Telehealth can reduce the need to drive, take transit or arrange transportation.
  • More flexibility: Video appointments can make it easier to fit care into work, school, caregiving or other responsibilities.
  • Continuity of care: Online therapy can help you stay connected with your clinician when weather, health concerns or other barriers make in-person visits difficult.
  • Secure support: WellPower uses secure technology to protect your privacy during telehealth appointments.

How to Prepare for a Telehealth Appointment

  • Choose a quiet, private place where you feel comfortable talking.
  • Use a device with a camera, microphone and internet connection.
  • Make sure your phone or device is charged before the appointment starts.
  • Watch for your appointment link by text or email before your session.
  • Let your care team know if you need help joining your appointment or using the telehealth tool.
