Groups at WellPower

Connection, Skills and Support for Well-Being

At WellPower, we know healing does not have to happen alone. Groups can help people build skills, feel less isolated and connect with others who understand what they are going through. As Denver’s nonprofit community mental health center, we offer a range of groups and classes that support mental health, substance use recovery and overall well-being for children, teens, adults and families in services with us.

How can clinical groups help?

Group services can be a powerful part of care. For many people, groups create a sense of belonging and remind them they are not the only one facing anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use challenges or major life changes. Groups also offer practical tools people can use right away, whether that means learning how to manage intense emotions, strengthen relationships, build recovery skills or create healthier daily routines. In a group setting, people can learn from a trained facilitator and from one another, while practicing new strategies in a supportive space.

At WellPower, our groups are part of a whole-person approach to behavioral health. Depending on a person’s needs, groups may complement individual therapy, psychiatry, case management or other supports. Some groups focus on treatment and recovery. Others focus on connection, wellness, parenting, community support or everyday life skills. Together, these options help people move toward greater stability, confidence and well-being.

What kinds of groups does WellPower offer?

We offer different types of groups across our programs, based on age, goals and treatment needs. Group availability can vary by program and location, but examples of groups and classes at WellPower include:

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy, or DBT, skills groups: DBT groups help people manage challenging emotions, reduce impulsive behaviors and build coping skills for daily life. WellPower offers DBT options for adults, teens, young adults and some parents and caregivers, including a Spanish-language DBT skills group.
  • Recovery and substance use groups: Some groups support people working toward recovery from substance use by helping them identify goals, build coping strategies and stay connected to support.
  • Parenting and caregiver groups: Parenting-focused groups can help caregivers strengthen relationships, better understand children’s emotional needs and build practical tools they can use at home.
  • Family and community groups: WellPower also offers community-centered groups such as social support spaces and groups designed to reduce stigma, strengthen connection and build community.
  • Classes focused on wellness and life skills: Depending on the program, people may also be able to join classes and groups related to wellness, peer support, education and other skills that support long-term well-being.

The right group depends on each person’s goals, age and current services. Some groups are open through specific programs, while others may require a referral from a treatment team. Our goal is to connect each person with services that fit their needs and support their progress.
