About Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation Program

This program supports the healthy social and emotional development of children, including the ability to form strong relationships, solve problems and express and manage emotions.

The PLAY ECMHC Program offers the following services

  • Strategies and support planning that ensure children receive consistent and responsive care
  • Information and ideas that help caregivers understand challenging behavior and trauma in young children
  • Support and training for caregivers and childcare professionals to promote social-emotional development and trauma-informed care
  • Support for caregiver well being
  • Reflective conversations that help caregivers identify attitudes, beliefs, practices and conditions that may impact relationships between adults and children
  • Referrals to community services and resources

 

PLAY ECMHC Consultation Services

We provide consultation services to childcare programs when care providers or parents have concerns about particular children (ages birth to 5 years) or classroom groups.

In Response to the COVID-19 pandemic, The PLAY Program is providing consultation services in a hybrid format. If technology or internet access are barriers for your program, please reach out to us!

Ask a Consultant

Ask a Consultant offers 30-minute appointments to caregivers of young children for shared problem solving and reflection at no cost. These sessions are ideal for caregivers who have needs or questions that can be addressed in a one-time virtual conversation, such as:

  • Understanding and effectively responding to the young children in your care.
  • Identifying concrete strategies and tools to support social emotional well-being.
  • Supporting positive caregiving relationships in your home, classroom or center.

Services are available at no cost to any caregiver caring for a young child from birth though age 5 including parents, early childhood education (ECE) teachers and program directors.

Translation of consultation materials and documents is available. Live phone interpretation is provided in languages other than Spanish and English by VOIANCE.
