Transformation at WellPower

WellPower is undergoing a profound transformation, reshaping the way we operate to meet the needs of our community and ensure continued excellence in behavioral health care. This transformation impacts every aspect of our organization.

The landscape of behavioral health in Colorado continues to shift rapidly, driven by several significant factors such as the implementation of H.R. 1, ongoing billion-dollar state budget deficits, city budget tightening and the reduction of once reliable grants. At the same time, the need for the critical care we provide is only increasing, as are reporting and regulatory requirements from multiple state- and federal-level entities. The emergence of artificial intelligence (A.I.) adds another set of considerations around competition and competency in a rapidly evolving technological and business environment.

At the heart of this transformation is our recently refreshed mission: to empower people to overcome barriers and achieve lasting well-being through collaborative behavioral health care and comprehensive support. Through this mission, we actively work toward our vision of a community where every person’s mental health is fostered through strength, resilience and hope.

Our transformation is built on two key pillars:

  • The first is financial stewardship. We are focused on being responsive to changes in our environment and responsible with the resources entrusted to us. As we collaborate with partners and payors, we are also working diligently internally to identify efficiencies, streamline operations and strengthen our foundation. Our recent efforts in these areas reflect real progress in our ability to do more with less, without compromising quality or access to care.
  • The second key pillar is operational efficiency. We are improving our front office and access operations, investing in a new approach to information technology infrastructure and data security, especially as A.I. becomes a more integral part of health care. These advancements help us serve our communities better and respond to the big changes happening around us.

Every change we undertake will allow us to continue operating according to our guiding principles: providing person-centered, exceptional care with integrity, all supported by organizational resilience in the midst of a constantly shifting context.

While these changes are necessary, we acknowledge that this kind of transformation is difficult, and can be painful for people and programs that have contributed meaningfully to this work for years, and even decades. We take this responsibility seriously, and commit to being thoughtful, thorough and person-centered in all decisions we make through this transformation – especially the ones that will impact our staff.

At WellPower, transformation isn’t just about surviving. It’s about thriving, innovating and leading the way for behavioral health in Colorado. We look forward to continuing to serve Denver and beyond for many years to come.
