A Message to our Community from Carl Clark, MD, President & CEO WellPower

By Carl Clark, MD,
President & CEO of the WellPower

Our hearts go out to the families and friends of those who died and those who were injured and traumatized in last night’s tragic incident at the Aurora movie theater.

The WellPower is a compassionate group of citizens who strive to help others in meaningful ways. We have a crisis response team in place ready to assist neighboring Aurora Mental Health and I feel fortunate that the mental health community here in Colorado has banded together to pledge our support.

As mental health professionals, we know firsthand how ripples of grief and fear resulting from this terrible incident can be felt all throughout the community and even the nation. We want to provide helpful resources for others who, while perhaps not directly impacted, are reeling in the wake of this tragedy.

Here are some links that offer advice for parents unsure of how to talk to children about the incident, as well as resources if you feel hopeless or saddened yourself. While there are never easy answers to senseless violence, I hope you find comfort from loved ones in the coming days.
