Leading the way in delivering community mental healthcare in Denver

The new a state-of-the-art Recovery Center for our adult consumers opened Monday, July 9th, 2012. We are very excited about how this new healthcare home will change the way mental healthcare is delivered in our community.

For the first time in our history we’ve designed a facility around how we provide services. The Recovery Center puts people’s needs and recovery first. This 70,000 sq. ft. facility alleviates overcrowding, expands access to services including integrated medical care and streamlines the way in which these services are delivered.

Specifically, an entire wing is dedicated to primary care services and integrated healthcare. For people with mental illness, this is especially important. Studies have shown that people with serious mental health conditions die 25 years earlier than people without mental health issues largely due to untreated physical health conditions such as heart attacks or diabetes and limited access to medical care.

The Recovery Center will become a true healthcare home for our adult consumers of mental health services in Denver. They will have access at to all the expertise to manage their behavioral and physical healthcare needs in one place. No more traveling between clinics to refill prescriptions or see a doctor or housing or employment specialist – every service we offer is available at the Recovery Center.

A client can receive all prescribed services during one extended visit to the Recovery Center. This improved model of care will not only benefit the individual client but the community as well. It is expected to open up more appointment times for other clients, including those who are accessing services for the first time.  With this focus we have projected an increase of 40% in the number of adult consumers we can serve within three years.

“The Recovery Center is a major milestone for us and for mental health recovery in Denver,” says Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Carl Clark. “It gets us one step closer to achieving our vision of being able to serve all those in need of mental health services in our community.”

The WellPower’s Recovery Center opened July 9th, 2012 and is centrally located at 4455 E. 12th Avenue in Denver, Colorado.

Update: On September 12th, 2012, donors and other members of the community who partnered with the WellPower in the effort to build the Recovery Center gathered fthe unveiling of the “Donor Wall.” Watch a short video of the unveiling of the Donor Wall below.
