Our Commitment to Community

At our core, we believe celebrating the unique strengths of WellPower staff and the people we serve is essential as a community mental health center. You deserve quality mental health care no matter who you are, who you love or where you’re from. As a staff member, you also deserve the opportunity to access well-being through continued education, community events and more.

Our ultimate vision is that WellPower is a place where you belong. Whether you’re meeting a case manager at Bingo or starting your first day as an employee, we hope you feel welcome when entering our doors.

About our Impact & Engagement Work

Our journey to create a place where you belong started over 10 years ago. In more recent years, we built the Impact & Engagement Department whose aim is to support staff and people we serve by inspiring growth, empowering potential and building transformative connections. But what does that mean in practice?

The Impact & Engagement team offers a wide range of essential services:

  • Interpretation & translation in any language
  • 1:1 coaching and consultation for people and teams
  • Training on numerous topics, such as the social determinants of health
  • Policy advocacy at the organization, city and state level
  • Community engagement through partnerships and events
  • Philanthropy through community-centric fundraising to ensure greater access to services

Language Access for All

At WellPower, we provide interpretation and translation services so people of all languages can access resources, participate in decision-making, and most importantly, improve well-being. With a team of staff interpreters and external contractors, we can provide better care to our communities.

We are proud to serve Deaf, hard of hearing, DeafBlind and DeafDisabled individuals. Having Deaf clinicians and ASL interpreters improves linguistic and connections, which results in better care outcomes. WellPower is involved in local advocacy and education programs through the Colorado Daylight Partnership.

WellPower employs a significant number of bilingual staff. This past year, we worked to improve how we hire, support and supervise Spanish-speaking staff.

Training: Supporting Staff on their Learning Journey

WellPower is home to a world-class training program that prepares staff to provide quality services. The Training & Staff Development team offers meaningful, practical and transformative learning opportunities across WellPower. We also offer training for outside organizations, anywhere from hospital systems to smaller non-profits.

What it means to be a "Guide on the Side"

We believe the role of our Training & Professional Development team is to be a “guide on the side, not the sage on the stage.” We don’t give lectures, but instead provide opportunities for self-reflection and experiential learning. Our goal is for people to take responsibility for their learning journey.

For example, staff at the Behavioral Health Solutions Center engaged in coaching and self-reflection several times a month to strengthen team communication. Training & Professional Development met with staff anywhere from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. because we know how important this team is.
