The science of Positive Psychology tells us that the well-being of the people around us affects us, too. If we have friends who have positive well-being, that impacts our well-being by 15%. If they have friends with positive well-being, that impacts us by 6%, even if we don't know them, personally.
The PERMA Model stands for: Positive Emotion, Engagement, Positive Relationships, Meaning, Accomplishment. Our efforts in caring for the people in our communities need to go to all aspects of their well-being, so they have the opportunity to thrive.
Positivity is a book by Barbara Fedrickson regarding the power of positivity in your life. Research shows that negative emotions have been found to impact us at 3x that of positive emotions.
