Colorado Crisis Services

GOING THROUGH A ROUGH DIVORCE, struggling with a custody battle and a demanding work schedule became too much for one man to handle. Knowing he needed some help, he found Denver’s Colorado Crisis Services walk-in center. He spoke with a trained professional who listened to his concerns and helped him problem-solve. After a few hours, he walked out of the crisis center with practical coping tools and the comfort of knowing the crisis staff will be there if he needs support in the future.

People suffering from stress, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, substance use or family crisis often feel alone with nowhere to turn. An average of one in four adults and one in ten children in the United States experiences a behavioral health issue every year. One of the hardest realities is that many will not seek support or get help.

First Statewide Resource for Mental Health
Colorado Crisis Services is trying to change that by providing greater access to mental health services. It is the first statewide resource for mental health, substance use and emotional crisis help available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It is supported by a network of partners across the state that provides a range of immediate crisis services.

If you are in crisis or need help dealing with one, call

24/7 Accessibility
The WellPower is one of those partners. We operate a crisis walk-in center, offer respite care and, along with Denver Health, provide mobile crisis services in the community.

The 24-hour walk-in center provides immediate help to someone experiencing a self-described crisis. A person is evaluated, provided counseling and connected to resources or ongoing care. If the person needs more intensive services, additional care can be arranged at a crisis stabilization unit, respite care or other treatment setting. Mobile crisis sends a mental health clinician to provide a face-to-face assessment, support and referrals by calling the 24-hour crisis line.

“Often times we hear after a crisis that they knew something was wrong but didn’t know how to get help,” said Carl Clark, MD, president and CEO of the WellPower. “Colorado Crisis Services is able to provide that support 24/7 to either the person going through a crisis or family and friends who are witnessing a crisis. The array of crisis services provided by the Colorado Crisis Services partners are available and ready to help whenever anyone needs them.”
